Here are 15 Classic Songs That’ll Cheer Up Your Day

We know, like us, you lead busy lives, there’s always so much stuff to do. Like us, you probably have days when it’s hard to get out of bed and get yourself motivated. Sounds like you? Here at Kids’ Stuff for Less we’re always looking for new ways to cheer ourselves up. Thankfully, picking orders for our lovely customers keeps us focused but when we need a bit more, we turn the music up a bit louder and let our hearts do the rest.

We had a chat between us and we came up with these 20 fantastic songs that are guaranteed to put a step in your toes for the day. Yes, we know some of them are a bit corny but so what?

1. Walking on Sunshine – Katrina and the Waves

A song that was literally made for summer. Katrina and the Waves took an old reggae song by the scruff of the neck and turned it into the ultimate feel good party track. So wind your windows down and turn up the volume, it doesn’t get any better than this.

2. Wake Me Up Before You Go Go – Wham!

“You put the boom boom into my heart!” and this song puts the boom boom into our lives when we hear it. The perfect pop song, perfectly written and produced and it still sounds as fresh as it did over 30 years ago.

3. Daydream Believer – The Monkees

Over 50 years old, but in our minds still stands the test of time as the perfect 3 minute pop song. Who doesn’t love Davy Jones’ perfect vocals followed by a chorus that even the saddest person on earth would sing along to.

4. I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor

Kids’ Stuff for Less don’t need much of an excuse to sing along to this whilst throwing our arms up in the air… Once I was afraid…

5. Staying Alive – Bee Gees

Once you’ve seen our boss, John, moving his feet along to this fantastic song when he thinks no-one is looking, you’ll know the meaning of uplifting. From the Saturday Night Fever film soundtrack, this is still a tune that gets people up on their feet to this day.

6. Island in the Stream – Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton

‘You do something to me that I can’t explain. Hold me closer and I feel no pain’. A classic song written by the multi-talented Bee Gees, Island in the Stream was turned into a worldwide smash by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. This song remains a much loved uplifting tune.

7. Wannabe – Spice Girls

Ok, we know it’s all a bit cheesy and they’re all middle-aged women now but whose ears don’t prick up when they hear the intro of this great pop classic?

8. Can’t Stop The Feeling – Justin Timberlake

We can only put this one ontowards the end of the day as we’ll get distracted from our job of packing your lovely orders.

9. Don’t Stop Me Now – Queen

We’re all singing along as one to this radio classic. It’s fast, furious and it’s fantastic. Long live Freddie!

10. Dancing Queen – ABBA

The ultimate girls’ night out song, Abba hit the heights with this classic hit in the 70s and it still hits the heart in the right place over 40 years later.

11. Never Gonna Give You Up – Rick Astley

Put this song on in the morning and by the time midday comes, you’ll be walking on air. Stock Aitken and Waterman were known as the hit factory in the 80s with hit after hit, week after week but nothing has stood the test of time like this one from the office teaboy turned superstar, Rick Astley.

12. Valerie – Mark Ronson ft. Amy Winehouse

Feeling a bit jaded? Put this song on and your spirits will rise immediately. Amy Winehouse’s perfect delivery combined with Mark Ronson’s inspired production combined to produce an uplifting pop classic that is guaranteed to get your toes tapping.

13. I Believe In A Thing Called Love

The ultimate air guitar song when you need waking up a bit. They were lauded as the new queen when they burst onto the scene but that early promise never really came to fruition. It’s still a classic though!

15. Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars

Another of Mark Ronson’s smash hits, Uptown Funk really sets us up for a day of action-packed work.
